In Japan, a walk among conifers trees is a kind of meditation!

Japanese culture is based on creating calm, balance and harmony. It is not only at the many beautiful temples and shrine, but also out in nature.

Trees and shrubs are cared for and cared for in a different way than in Europe. Many large trees in Japanese street scene are cut, as were the small bonzai trees.

The trees are cut into specific shapes. In Japan, it is very normal to see gardeners sitting somewhere in the treetops and cutting one leaf at a time. It is a slow job that requires a lot of patience.

The result is not to be mistaken. These are beautiful and well-kept trees that radiate calm, silence and harmony.

Which chopsticks are best for sushi?

Most sushi restaurants in Denmark use disposable chopsticks. In many Danish homes there are plastic chips.

In Japan, chopsticks are an important cutlery and the Japanese are very conscious about what they are using to eat their food with. Basically, all Japanese food in the Japanese homes is eaten with high quality wood chopsticks. Chopsticks made in an organic material lift the gastronomic experience in a different way than cutlery made of metal.

If you eat your food with plastic cutlery or cold cutlery made of steel the food tastes different. There are man-made materials that are not naturally in the mouth. Chopsticks made of wood harmonize with organic food and support the gastronomic experience. Wood does not change character regardless of the cold or hot food you eat. It adapts to the temperature of the room and the food.

In Japan, chopsticks are not just chopsticks. In my webshop (Danish site) I sell a selection of handmade Japanese chopsticks of different grades and types of wood.
