How to get the best avocados!

I love mature avocados, but they should not be so mature that they have also turned brown.

It can be difficult to pick ripe avocados. There are several reasons for this.

Some avocados appear soft on the outside but are rock hard on the inside. This typically happens when the avocados are pressed.

Most green avocados that come to Europe are of an avocado variety that is not mature until they have changed color to be dark brown.

The best way to ensure that you get good avocados in the shopping cart is to go for avocados that are wrapped. These are avocados that are packed in such a way that they do not get very many marks.

It is best to buy avocados a few days before they are to be used. Avocados benefit from lying on the kitchen table or near the window for a few days and ripening.

How to choose the best avocados!

Picking edible avocados is a bit like playing the lottery. Either they are too hard or they are brown.

There are many who tap on avocados to see if they are ripe. There is no reason for that. The only thing you get from it is that you get to buy avocados that have been pressed.

Most supermarkets sell avocados that are packed in pairs in foil. These are avocados that I recommend you buy. It’s harder for people to press the avocados when they are packed that way.

When you buy avocados, choose the avocados that are light brown in the peel. Feel free to buy them a few days before you need to use them. Let them lie and ripen on the kitchen table or window sill.

Then they should very much like to be perfect when they are to be used.

Is it difficult to make tasty vegetarian sushi?

Vegetarian sushiI have vegetarian friends who like sushi but they often think that the selection is quite small and boring when they visit a sushi restaurant.

They have experience the avocado and cucumber being the main two ingredients in vegetarian sushi.

My own experience is that well-made vegetarian sushi tastes absolutely fantastic. It may well turn out to taste better a sushi made with fish.

There are several reasons for this.

Fresh vegetables in season have a great taste and a completely different texture that fish do not have.

However, the preparation takes longer and when the techniques are used to highlight the vegetables grades is broader.

High quality, fresh and clean vegetables taste very good.

What also can be challenge with vegetables is their consistency.
